This means a lot to the needy community members. Adequate clean water. Saving time and health.
This project is done in Chira Ambezo locality Gondar Ethiopia. The community donated free land and labor. Teel Charitable family foundation and The Landers' family covered 100% of the project expenses. That was why this project is dedicated for both donors. Thaank you Teel and Landers.
Wogen was able to build and handover to Sebia Giorgis community in 2014. The community is protecting the well and it is in good shape.
Wogen organized and paid 70% of the expenses and Lideta Mahber in Seattle contributed 30% of the cost . We donated 60 chairs fitted with desks that can help about 180 students to get seat to learn.
Zeraege High School is one of the recently opened schools in remote area of Gondar zone, Ethiopia. Wogen was contacted by the District Education Office at Tikil Dingay expressing the severity of the problem. We were able to donate 50 sets of chairs and desk combo that will help to sit around 150 students.
Statement that says over 150 students have got seat.
This project is 100% covered by Teel Family Foundation and Landers' Family. Water was meager. Students were suffering. Community members had no means to easily access adequate clean water. Now The completion of this project allows over 900 students and over 300 community members to get enough and clean water.
Diba Abo Locality is under the city of Gondar administration, 11 km far from the center. The area is medium agro-ecology not low or high land. However, it is erratic with a lot of ups and downs. The community subsists on agriculture. Most of the people migrate because of severe water shortage. Those who try to survive in the area have to travel long distance (over 2 miles) to fetch water. Hence Sanitation is very low and livestock maintenance is very poor. Above all mothers and children mainly student suffer a lot from lack of water.
The little spring which is nearly one km far from the elementary school is the only water source shared among the community and students during the months of June to December. Nevertheless, it will be totally dry during the months of February to June.
Therefore, based on the study of the in-country representatives of Wogen Children and Mothers Support Association Seattle Chapter and the Agreement of the community this spring water development was undertaken.
